After asking the group how many have ever attended a Mystery Party, the mentalist magician suggests, "For anyone who has never been to one, let's have one right

here!”

Up to seven people are brought to the front of the room where a knife sits on a table. As the magician turns his/her back, the group decides who the murderer is going to be and then arranges themselves in a line – placing the murderer with the knife hidden on his/her person wherever in the line they wish.

The magician is going to go down the row asking each person the same two questions. Each person has a choice to make. They can either lie on both questions

or tell the truth on both questions as the magician attempts to pick up on any tells from the body language of the participants. The magician apparently jots down observations on his/her phone’s note app as each person responds.

For dramatic effect … the magician immediately eliminates some and asks the others a couple additional questions until finally only two remain. The magician starts to move towards one but suddenly turns and successfully determines the murderer - retrieving the hidden knife.
